Where you'll go
Day 1: Tuk Tuks, Temples And Hill Tribes
We’ll pick you up at 8:00am from the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel in Chiang Mai City and transfer you to our training base in the lovely Mae Wang valley about an hour outside the city.
On arrival at our ‘base camp’ we’ll introduce you immediately to your Tuk Tuk and get started with some training. This takes place on a dedicated track and will give you plenty of time to get used to your Tuk Tuk.
We then head off down winding rural lanes through small farming communities and to a remote Temple where you’ll receive a blessing for the adventure ahead.
After an authentic northern Thai lunch we then head along small roads up into the mountains towards our overnight destination of a remote Karen Hill Tribe village. We’re camping here tonight in the fields (don’t worry – there are showers and toilets available) to get a real ‘Hill Tribe’ experience.
In the evening we’ll learn how to cook ‘jungle style’ with an open fire before spending the night under the stars – a proper Thai adventure!
Day 2: Mountain Roads And Hill Tribes
After breakfast we’ll explore the local area around the village before getting back into the Tuk Tuks and heading further into the foothills of Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain. With plenty of stops to explore, this is an incredible journey through spectacular mountain scenery.
We’ll stop for a late lunch at a small roadside restaurant and then head on to the community of Ban Mae Khlang Luang, our overnight base.
The accommodation is surrounded by mountains and rice terraces and is the perfect setting for the second night of the adventure. After checking there’s time to explore the village, see how the community live and try some of the freshest coffee around you’ll ever taste!
In the evening we’ll have a traditional Thai style BBQ out in the rice fields.
Day 3: Walking, Waterfalls And Lunch In The Jungle
We head off this morning to explore the local forests. The trek is ‘only’ around 5-6 km but takes us through fantastic scenery and eventually to a series of stunning waterfalls. We’ll have lunch in the forest and there’s also time to swim if you wish.
After lunch we trek out of the forest and back to the village. It’s then time to say goodbye to your trusty Tuk Tuk and head back to Chiang Mai city by private minivan. We’ll arrive back at Chiang Mai Gate Hotel around 4:30pm
