Where you'll go
Day 1: Tuk Tuks, Temples And Hill Tribes
We’ll pick you up at 8:00am from the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel in Chiang Mai City and transfer you to our training base in the lovely Mae Wang valley about an hour outside the city.
On arrival at the base you’ll be introduced to your driver and your bright orange Tuk Tuk and get ready for the adventure ahead. Your Tuk Tuk is specially modified to not only cope perfectly with the winding mountain roads but also to give extra comfort and views from the back seat. There are Bluetooth speakers for you to play your road trip playlist on and you can even roll back the roof and catch some rays!
Once everyone’s ready to go, you’ll head off through winding lanes passing through small farming communities (be ready for some classic SE Asia photo opportunities). You visit stunning, remote Temples that few travellers every visit, and get a blessing for the adventure ahead.
You’ll have a simple but hearty lunch at our favourite local restaurant and then head up in to the mountains. We’ll have a short pit stop to trek up to a waterfall and visit a tiny Karen community, then we’ll wind up the hairpin bends to our overnight destination at a remote Karen village where we’ll camp and have a proper ‘Hill Tribe’ experience.
Day 2: Mountain Roads And Hill Tribes
After breakfast we’ll explore the local area around the village before getting back into the Tuk Tuks and heading further into the foothills of Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain. With plenty of stops to explore, this is an incredible journey through spectacular mountain scenery.
We’ll stop for a late lunch at a small roadside restaurant and then head on to the community of Ban Mae Khlang Luang, our overnight base.
The accommodation is surrounded by mountains and rice terraces and is the perfect setting for the second night of the adventure. After checking there’s time to explore the village, see how the community live and try some of the freshest coffee around you’ll ever taste!
In the evening we’ll have a traditional Thai style BBQ out in the rice fields.
Day 3: Walking, Waterfalls And Lunch In The Jungle
We head off this morning to explore the local forests. The trek is ‘only’ around 5-6 km but takes us through fantastic scenery and eventually to a series of stunning waterfalls. We’ll have lunch in the forest and there’s also time to swim if you wish.
After lunch we trek out of the forest and back to the village. It’s then time to say goodbye to your trusty Tuk Tuk and head back to Chiang Mai city by private minivan. We’ll arrive back at Chiang Mai Gate Hotel around 4:30pm
