Itinerary

Day 1: Tuk Tuks, Temples And Hill Tribes

Our team will pick you up at 8:00am from the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel in Chiang Mai City and transfer you to our training base in the lovely Mae Wang valley about an hour outside  the city.

On arrival at the base you’ll be introduced to your driver and your bright orange Tuk Tuk and get ready for the adventure ahead.  Your Tuk Tuk is specially modified to not only cope perfectly with the winding mountain roads but also to give extra comfort and views from the back seat. There are Bluetooth speakers for you to play your road trip playlist on and you can even roll back the roof and catch some rays!

Once everyone’s ready to go, you’ll head off through winding lanes passing through small farming communities (be ready for some classic SE Asia photo opportunities). You visit stunning, remote Temples that few travellers every visit, and get a blessing for the adventure ahead.

You’ll have a simple but hearty lunch at our favourite local restaurant and then head up in to the mountains. We’ll have a short pit stop to trek up to a waterfall and visit a tiny Karen community, then we’ll wind up the hairpin bends to our overnight destination at a remote Karen village where we’ll camp and have a proper ‘Hill Tribe’ experience.

Day 2: Stunning Mountain Roads and Hill Tribe Communities

After breakfast you’ll explore the local area around the campsite and village before getting back into your Tuk Tuk and heading further into the foothills of Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain. With plenty of stops to explore, this is an incredible journey through spectacular mountain scenery.

You’ll stop for a late lunch at a small roadside restaurant and then head on to the mountain community of Mae Khlang Luang where you’ll be staying overnight.

The accommodation is surrounded by mountains and rice terraces and is the perfect setting for the second night of you adventure. After ‘checking in’ there will be  time to explore the village, see how the community live and try some of the freshest coffee around you’ll ever taste!

In the evening you’ll have a traditional Thai style BBQ overlooking the rice fields – perfect.

Day 3: Hiking, Waterfalls And Lunch In The Jungle

Your Tuk Tuk gets a break today as you head off on foot to explore the local forests and waterfalls.

The trek is ‘only’ around 5-6 km but takes you through fantastic scenery and eventually to a series of stunning waterfalls. You’ll have lunch in the forest and there’s also time to swim if you wish.

After lunch you’ll trek out of the forest and back to the village through the rice terraces. It’s then time to say goodbye to your trusty Tuk Tuk as you head back to Chiang Mai city by private minivan.  You’ll arrive back at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel around 4:30pm, a fully fledged member of The Tuk Tuk Club.
